The trend of recent years has clearly been the box for external blinds hidden under the facade of the house. This solution preserves the maximum purity of the architectural design of the entire house. If you like this technical solution, you need to discuss the issue of proper shading before the construction itself or possibly before the thermal insulation of your home.
Built-in boxes of external blinds are installed before or during the house insulation proces, and their use is very variable. However, there are some limitations and it is therefore necessary to consult a specific technical solution with a well-trained installation firm in time.
The external blinds are installed in the box hidden under the facade of the house which completely covers the stack of slats after the blinds are retracted, and the blinds are thus stored in this box and protected from the surrounding influences. The retracted blinds are not seen when looking from the interior or the exterior of the house. Built-in boxes are always custom made and their dimensions are based on the size of the window or door and the selected type of slat of the external blind. The underside of the box´s front panel is provided with an aluminum plaster molding for a clean finish of the plaster. The boxes are grey coloured on the inside. They are produced with back insulation or without insulation versions, and they can be freely connected with straight and corner connections without limitation of the total length of the box.
The boxes are made of special construction material PURENIT® 550MD.
It is essentially a polyurethane based material made of rigid recyclable PIR foam with the mechanical properties of a wood-based panel. This lightweight, yet stiff, 15 mm thick plate with no negative effects on health and features extreme compression resistance. It has long-term temperature resistance + 100 °C, short-term temperature resistance + 250 °C and minimal water absorption. It is distinguished by dimensional stability due to humidity and temperature. By using the PURENIT® 550MD you avoid thermal bridging. Thanks to all these properties, this material is very often used mainly in the construction industry.
The boxes made of this material are lightweight but still very hard.
This method of installing guide rails can be used if the planned surface of the façade is relatively smooth - plaster, wooden facing, smooth ceramic tiles. It cannot be used where the surface is rugged, e.g. stone facing. The guide rail is embedded in the facade, it does not interfere with the appearance of the windows. Before completion of the facade, it is necessary to fit the alumimium case of the U-shaped guide rail, which is then plastered. The case can be cut into the flat insulation of the house, or it is possible to attach the insulating panels with the already installed case for the guide rail. When installing the blind, the built-in guide rail itself is placed in the aluminium case.
Partially built-in guide railsThe 40 mm wide guide rail is used where the reveal is formed by a broken surface, typically with stone facing. |
Visible guide railsVisible guide rails are anchored in the reveal or through aluminium brackets into the window frame. This is a simple way of installation which is possible even after the completion of the facade. |
